Universal Design Practices Conference I_Universal Design, Detmold, Germany, October 2018

This Conference will be connected with the annual symposium of research focus PerceptionLab at the HS OWL which is an established event of interdisciplinary lectures which already provides a platform for the exchange of companies, offices, scientists, students and interested experts, and provides insights into the fields of activity and the competencies of PerceptionLab which aims to "make the impact of space measurable“. This annual event provides a good platform for the first conference. It is planned to title it "Man, Space and Inclusion“ in 2018 and to open it fort he participants of the conference.

During the Universal Design Conference a workshop on Universal Design will be hold. For example head of the Institute for Universal Design  Thomas Bade and other experts from Universal Design and Design for All networks will be guest in this workshop to give his expertise. 
The results of the workshop are to presented in an exhibition at the conference and multiplied over the projects website and other relevant professional social and media. Besides the students from the HS OWL,  students from the project participating universities will take part. The assignment in the workshop is an international exchange on the handling of Universal Design in architecture in building culture in different countries and approaches of design education.

The workshop which will be tutored by Ulrich Nether of HS-OWL will elaborate case studies on Universal Design in education environments and will disseminate the way and methodology how case studies are treated in the educational program of PUDCAD. Especially the interdisciplinary input of the different partners will be highlighted in the workshops. The publication of the results and the final exhibition not only will show the design of the projects but the process and methodology will be main focus..

During the conference, one session will be devoted to the theme of education and Universal Design. Paper presentations on the actual state of education on this subject are to be presented as in the PUDCAD project. PUDCAD participants: Hochschule Ostwestfalen Lippe, Istanbul Teknik Universitesi, Lahden Ammattikorkeakoulu OY, Hochschule für Technik Stuttgart, Universita Studi Di Firenze and Politecnico Di Milano.
